Use
Person with an oncological illness, person diagnosed with cancer
Avoid
Person suffering from oncology, person with oncology, cancer survivor
The first term is not only unethical, but also inaccurate, because a person can not suffer from oncology, as oncology is a branch of medicine. Therefore, it is better to say “person diagnosed with cancer” or to name a specific diagnosis, if it is relevant. The term “cancer survivor” is also widely used and considered appropriate.
