Use
Person who uses a wheelchair
Avoid
Wheelchair-bound, wheel-chaired
Wheelchairs liberate people with mobility disorders, they do not confine or bind them. They provide mobility, not restriction. We should also remember to use people-first language when talking or writing about people who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
It’s also advisable to use the word “walk” and not “drive” when talking about how a person who uses a wheelchair gets around.
