Gay person

The suffix “-ist” is incorrect both from a linguistic and ethical standpoint. It appeared in Russian during the Soviet era, when men could be imprisoned for same-sex relationships. In addition, the term was used as a clinical term. That is, when we say “homosexualist,” we are pointing out that a person’s love for a person of the same sex is a disease.

Of course, many people use the word “homosexualist” today without even suspecting its origins and derogatory connotations. But it is better to use the term “gay”. In Ukrainian, the term “homosexual” is also considered neutral, even though it considered outdated in English.

The slang word “blue” is offensive and factually incorrect, LGBT people do not associate themselves with this color. And here’s another interesting fact: the pride flag consists of 6 colors, not 7. And there is no blue in it.
