Use
Person with paraplegia
Avoid
Paraplegic, paraplegic person, cripple
Avoid referring to an individual as a paraplegic. Instead, say the person has paraplegia. Sometimes people with paraplegia refer to themselves as a “para.” In those cases, use the word in quotes. But unless they see this disability as part of their identity, it is best to use “people-first” language.
