Tolerance

25.09.2021

Tolerance means respect, acceptance and understanding of the rich diversity of cultures present in our world. It also means respect and acceptance for different kinds of human self-expression.

Being tolerant does not mean giving in or being too soft and giving up your own beliefs. To be tolerant is to recognize that people around you have the right to be different, to adhere to their beliefs – as long as they do it peacefully and without conflict. To be tolerant is to abandon dogmatism and absolutism and not impose one’s views on others. To be tolerant is to promote human rights and democracy in our world.

Of course, with the growth of our planet’s population, the processes of migration, the development of international communication, tolerance becomes especially important. Our countries and regions are different, and this multiculturalism must be accepted, otherwise there is a threat of intolerance. And where there is intolerance, there is discord, conflict and violence. Therefore, tolerance is an important condition for our peaceful and harmonious existence.
