A human rights-based approach

25.09.2021

The rights-based approach to development is based on the idea that any programs that are created, any buildings that are under construction, any organizations that work, should be guided by the basic principle that human rights are inviolable and must be respected. This means showing respect for each and every individual, a lack of discrimination and prejudice and, conversely, a desire to help and do everything transparently. In practice, this also means attention and intervention in situations where human rights are violated.

This approach also states that we should prioritise attempts to improve the situation of the most discriminated and vulnerable groups, and that all actions should be transparent, accountable and with the direct participation of representatives of the groups whose interests they affect.
