International Women’s Day

March 8 is not about beauty, spring, roses and mimosa salads, which many people in Ukraine may mistakenly associate it with. This is a day of solidarity of women in the struggle for their rights. There is still sexism in the world, the objectification of the female body in the media, the pay gap in men’s favor, the “glass ceiling” they face in their careers due to various stereotypes, and gender-based violence. On this day, many cities in Ukraine and around the world hold Women’s Marches, during which women and girls, as well as men who promote equal rights for women and men, take to the streets to declare their readiness to stand up for women’s rights. You can also support the idea of ​​equal rights for all by participating in the March, prepare a poster with a slogan in support of the values ​​of equal rights for women and men, or make a post on social media. Of course, you can congratulate women and girls on this day, but you should consider the context of the greeting.
