International Day of Education
At least a third of the world’s schoolchildren – 463 million – were unable to access online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic (data provided by UNICEF). According to UNESCO, as of today 262 million children and adolescents do not attend school, 617 million do not have basic reading and numeracy skills. International Education Day was launched to draw the world’s attention to the problem of children’s limited access to education.
