5 May

International Day for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On this day, the world community aims to draw attention to the problems of people with disabilities, as their rights are often violated and they feel vulnerable or discriminated against in the face of barriers in many areas of life. The history of the International Day for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities dates back to 1992. It was then, on May 5th, that people with disabilities from 17 countries simultaneously held the first European Day for Equal Rights and Against Discrimination. This event was preceded by the UN International Decade in the 80s and 90s, dedicated to people with disabilities, during which the problem of human rights violations only came to the fore.
