21 Mar
International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
March 21 is also the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The history of this annual observance dates back to the 1960s, when 69 peaceful demonstrators were massacred in South Africa. The problem of racism is still acute. In Ukraine, in particular, one of the most discriminated groups are the Roma people. Another important matter for Ukraine was the occupation by the Russian Federation of the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, where there are violations of human rights on ethnic grounds, in particular against Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars. On this day, we encourage you to spread the idea that no one can be discriminated against because of their skin color or ethnicity.
