22 Jun
Day of mourning and commemoration of WW2 victims
On June 22, 1941, despite a secret non-aggression pact between Germany and the Soviet Union (the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact of 1939), Nazi Germany attacked Soviet troops along the entire line from the Baltic to the Black Sea. The dependence of both warring parties on Ukraine’s material and human resources has led to extremely brutal and bloody fighting on our territory. Among the countries that were part of the USSR, Ukraine suffered the most from both Nazi aggression and the communist regime. On this day we commemorate all those whose lives were lost in World War II. On this day, you should bring flowers to a memorial and light a candle in memory of the victims.
